Heinäkuussa 2019 tuottaja Jon Favreau kertoi aloittaneensa toisen tuotantokauden käsikirjoittamisen ja esituotannon olevan käynnissä.[5] Hän kertoi Entertainment Weeklylle saaneensa käsikirjoittamiseen vaikutteita Game of Thronesin tavasta kertoa useita tarinoita samanaikaisesti.[1]
Favreau palaa myös ohjaajaksi yhdessä näyttelijä Carl Weathersin sekä ensimmäisen tuotantokauden ohjaajien Dave Filonin[8], Rick Famuyiwan[7] ja Bryce Dallas Howardin kanssa[9] Uusina ohjaajina toimivat Peyton Reed[10] ja Robert Rodriguez.[11] Koska aloituskustannukset ovat ensimmäistä tuotantokautta pienemmät, budjetista käytettiin suurempi osa itse ohjelmaan. George Lucas vieraili jälleen kuvauksissa ja antoi Filonille vinkkejä ohjaukseen. Tuotantokauden kuvaukset päättyivät muutamaa päivää ennen COVID-19-pandemian alkua. Jälkituotantoryhmä joutui sopeutumaan karanteniin, jossa heidän suurin haasteensa oli musiikin nauhoittaminen.[1]

8. syyskuuta 2020 Entertainment Weekly paljasti tuotantokauden ensimmäiset mainoskuvat.[1] Ensimmäinen traileri julkaistiin 15. syyskuuta,[17] mitä seurasi erityinen ennakkokatsaus Monday Night Football -lähetyksen puoliajalla 19. lokakuuta.[18]
